Ms. Ela Victoria F. Sarmago, PNVSCA Chief Volunteer Service Officer, served as panelist in the Dissemination Forum on the Country Case Study on Citizen-Generated Data (CGD) for Official Reporting on 16 October 2019 at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City. Ms. Sarmago expressed that PNVSCA can assist PSA in the CGD project by advocating to volunteer service organizations to partner with civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) in data collection especially on data related to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). She added that advocacy on the use of CGD for official reporting should be done at all levels (of the bureaucracy and at CSO community) for effective buy-in of the initiative. Also, there is a need for capacity building of potential CSOs/NGOs after validation of the CGD that were identified in the case study.

The Dissemination Forum is the culminating activity of the CGD project being implemented by Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) in collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The PSA-PARIS21 project aims to utilize citizen-generated data for official reporting particularly on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) monitoring. The Launching Workshop on CGD for Official Reporting was held on 24 July 2019, while the case study was conducted from July to October 2019.
