To create more awareness on the value of volunteerism as a strategy for citizen participation in nation-building, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) together with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region IX will conduct a Forum on Volunteerism on 19 March 2019 at the Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City.

NEDA Region IX OIC-Regional Director Phlorita A. Ridao is expected to deliver the welcome remarks while OIC-Assistant Regional Director Susan Valerio will present the AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the Philippine and Western Mindanao Regional Development Plan 2017-2022, respectively. NEDA and PNVSCA have invited various organizations from different sectors such as government, corporate, non-government organizations and the academe to participate in this event.

PNVSCA Executive Director Joselito De Vera said that regional volunteer fora such as this event are great opportunities to collect ideas and recommendations in order to create development policy agenda.

This Forum on Volunteerism is part of the Volunteerism for Development Communication and Advocacy Program (V4DCAP) 2017-2022 which aims to pool authorities and members of the community to discuss development through volunteerism.
