04 May 2018 PNVSCA undergoes training on the procurement law

All employees of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) attended a one-day training on Republic Act No. 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act, and its revised implementing rules and regulations.

With the aim of continuously improving its administrative support system, the Agency invited resource persons to facilitate learning among all staff on the procurement law. Mr. Rainier Diaz and Mr. Josue Mirabite served as the resource persons during this activity. They shared their knowledge and expertise and created a common understanding on procurement processes, rules, and regulations.

Mr. Diaz provided the overview and general provisions of the Act as well as guidance on planning and monitoring. Mr. Mirabite discussed about the Standardized Bidding Procedures for Consulting Services and the Alternative Methods of Procurement. Both resource persons are part of the trained resource pool of the Government Procurement Policy Board Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO) providing trainings to government institutions including national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, and local government units.

According to Executive Director Joselito de Vera, it is important to be trained on the procurement process because it is an integral part of the government support system to have a more effective and efficient operation.

This capacity-building activity which was held on May 3, 2018 is just one of the initiatives of the Agency to better fulfill its mandate of promoting and coordinating the national volunteer service program. ###VF
