The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency calls on individuals and groups to join the National Volunteer Month 2017 this coming December.

With the theme, “ Boluntarismo: Daan Tungo sa Pagbabago,” this year’s NVM is anchored on the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 and the Sustainable Development Goals. It calls on every Filipino to become a change catalyst, even in their own simple ways, through organizing and participating in volunteer activities aligned with the local and international development priorities.

PNVSCA Executive Director Joselito C. De Vera encourages the public to engage in year-round volunteering activities and projects to build up for the culminating celebration in December. “PNVSCA promotes volunteerism as an enduring Filipino value , a tool for socio-economic development, and a way of life. Citizen participation and public-private partnership will play a significant role in fostering an enabling environment for volunteerism,” he said.

Preparations for the NVM kicked off with the launch of the Search for Outstanding Volunteers 2017 and the Volunteerism Poster Making Contest in March and July, respectively.

The NVM also serves as the country’s platform to recognize the contributions of the volunteer community to nation-building and sustainable development.

The declaration of December as NVM was signed on 5 December 1988 through Presidential Proclamation No. 55.
