The annual French Volunteering Day was held last October 20, 2017 at the Asian Social Institute in Manila with the theme "17 Goals for a Voluntary World". It was anchored on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by the United Nations adopted into practice by member countries, including France and Philippines. The annual event sponsored by France Volontaires was well attended with volunteers representing different organizations and causes.

Mr. Enrico Gaveglia, Deputy Country Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines, shed light on the importance of volunteers in the achievement of the SDGs. He recognized the volunteers as powerful driving agents in implementing the SDGs because of their capacity to mobilize and engage people. Meanwhile, PNVSCA Executive Director Joselito De Vera discussed the contribution of the foreign volunteers to the National Development Trust of the Philippines. He explained that as volunteers, they play a big part in the development cooperation such as (1) provision of technical assistance, (2) vehicle for socio-cultural sharing, and (3) service learning platform, especially to young volunteers.

The event also featured testimonials from volunteers, among those who gave their testimonies were the following:EleonoreIriart (PasserelleNumerique);Cenen Milan (Virlanie Foundation); Clara Bouchet (Water and Life); Camille Richard (Kaloob);and Marie Francoise Michel (Virlanie Foundation). Among the volunteer programs presented were IT education (PasserelleNumerique), clean water provision (TubigPag-asa), and childcare (Virlanie Foundation).
