The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) has identified two more regions in Luzon to conduct regional multi-sectoral consultation forums before the agency wraps up the preparation of a national policy and action agenda for the voluntary sector.

PNVSCA Executive Director Joselito C. de Vera said Calabarzon and Bicol regions are crucial to the preparation of a national policy and action agenda for the voluntary sector because of the increasing number of global companies in Calabarzon and the experiences of volunteers in the Bicol region since it is susceptible to natural calamities.

The PNVSCA partners with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional offices in Calabarzon and Bicol to gather advocates of volunteerism from different sectors in the said regions and to conduct the ‘Forum on Volunteerism: A Vision for the Future.’ The forum in Calabarzon will be held on 26 September 2017 at Splash Mountain Resort in Los Baños, Laguna, while the forum in Bicol will be held on 5 October 2017 at the NEDA V Regional Office in Legazpi City, Albay.

The NEDA Regional Offices and PNVSCA have invited volunteer advocates from regional line agencies, local government units, not-for-profit organizations, private corporate and government owned and controlled corporations and the academe from the two regions to attend the forums.
NEDA will present Ambisyon Natin 2040, Philippine/ Regional Development Plan 2017- 2022 and Opportunities for Volunteerism, while PNVSCA will discuss the significant role of volunteerism in development.

The Forum aims to generate ideas among participants on how volunteerism can support the Philippine Development Plan 2017- 2022. It is part of the series of forum being conducted by the PNVSCA in the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Director De Vera explained the forum will serve as a good venue for the different sectors to discuss concrete volunteering strategies, existing volunteer programs and new initiatives to sustain the government and private sector efforts in regional development.

The PNVSCA is the government agency mandated to promote and coordinate volunteer programs and services in the Philippines. PNVSCA closely works with other government agencies, non-government organizations, the academe, the corporate group, the media and other partners in converging and linking the different volunteering efforts and resources so that they are aligned with national priorities and assist especially the marginalized sectors and communities. PNVSCA takes the lead in advocating and recognizing the contributions of volunteers to nation-building and international cooperation
