This September 2017, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency joins the celebration of the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM), with the theme,Strengthening Decentralization for Regional Development.

Per Malacaņang Proclamation No. 247 dated September 2, 2002, the month of September of every year is declared as Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) to promote and draw nationwide awareness on the importance of policy research in the formulation of national development plans, programs, and policies. The theme for this year highlights the need for in-depth reflections and analyses not just purely on federalism but encompassing the bigger umbrella of decentralization reforms.

As the agency designated to lead and coordinate the activities for the annual observance of the DPRM, the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) invites organizations and the general public to join the month-long celebration. DPRM 2017 aims to emphasize to policy makers the importance of critical thinking and the formulation of appropriate policy interventions to advance development in the regions.
