03 March 2017 PNVSCA AND NVM-SC BIDS FAREWELL TO MA’AM LYNN

Written by: Kenneth C. Siruelo

The National Volunteer Month Steering Committee (NVM-SC) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), bid farewell to its long-time Chair, Director Erlinda M. Capones at its 27th February 2017 meeting.

Ma’am Lynn, as fondly called by friends and colleagues served as the Presiding Officer of the NVM-SC as representative of the Secretary of Socio-Economic Planning National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) for around fifteen (15) years. She will retire from government service on 15 March 2017.

Under Ma’am Lynn’s guidance, the NVM-SC expanded its membership by engaging other government agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to reach more communities and non-traditional partners to participate in volunteerism for development. To accentuate the value of volunteerism in national policies, plans and programs, Ma’am Lynn has been a prime mover for the successful inclusion of volunteerism in one of the chapters of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2011-2016 and the successor PDP.

As validation of her inclination and love for volunteerism, she remarked that her retirement would afford her more time to volunteer.

While the NVM-SC and PNVSCA will miss the able leadership of Ma’am Lynn, everyone is looking forward to the happiness this retirement would bring to her family.

From PNVSCA Executive Director Joselito C. De Vera and staff and from all members of the NVM-SC, we wish you all the best and Thank You Ma’am Lynn!
