25 September 2019 Muntinlupa City 1st Volunteers’ Summit

The Community Affairs and Development Office (CADO) of the City Government of Muntinlupa, in cooperation with Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, held its First Volunteers’ Summit with the theme “Sulong Boluntaryo…Pag-asa ng Bayan ay Itaguyod mo” at the Right Wing Sports Center, Tunasan, Muntinlupa City last September 14.

The activity aimed to commend and encourage the efforts that the volunteers contribute in the local government’s development programs. CADO Acting Head Rosemarie I. Geli and her team conceptualized the event, which she envisions to continue as an annual event that will further promote volunteerism in the City Government of Muntinlupa.

Around 150 participants from the city’s different volunteer and local organizations participated in the event to share their knowledge, experiences and discover new practices that they can apply when volunteering.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi and City Vice-Mayor Artemio Simundac, and local officials graced the event to show support and encourage more volunteers to be involved in the city government’s projects and programs.

Different local government offices like the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau, City Health Office and Bureau of Fire Protection each gave lectures on how the volunteers can participate further in their local government’s development plans and projects.

PNVSCA Officer-in-Charge Corazon M. Macaraig gave a presentation on “Volunteerism as a Strategy of Development.” She talked about the AmBisyon Natin 2040, and the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, and how the volunteers’ participation will help meet the development, vision, and goals not just for their local government but also of the national government.

The event was capped off by the participants’ signing of commitment to volunteering.
